المملكة: With the naked eye .. Astronomical Jeddah monitors the crescent of the feast with the sky of the Kingdom

The sky of the Kingdom and the Arab world was monitored by the month of Shawwal after sunset today, moving towards the beginning of the night on the western horizon and watching it easily with the naked eye.
The President of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Eng. Majid Abu Zahra, stated that the moon will move away from the glow of sunset sunlight compared to the past night, and will become more high in the sky with a lighting percentage (2%), and is seen below Jupiter (for the observer).

He pointed out that during a few nights, he will notice that the non -lit part of the moon’s surface glows with a faint light, which is sunlight reflected from the Earth and falling on the moon.

He pointed out that day after day, the lighting of the crescent will increase and rise high in the sky at sunset, and remains longer after the beginning of the night, and moves away from the sunset site, and will be an important evidence for locating the planets and stars in the night sky during the coming weeks.

He explained that starting tonight, the moon’s monthly journey begins across the sky, and by observing it during the coming nights and weeks, it will be a guide to locate other planets and shining stars, and moves east during its rotation around the earth.
It is noteworthy that this time of the lunar month is ideal for monitoring dim bodies in the depths of space, such as galaxies, nebula and stellar clips, due to the absence of moonlight, which usually blur the natural lights in the sky.
