More than 50 countries have suggested negotiating with America on customs duties
US President Kevin Haysit said that more than 50 countries have contacted the White House to start negotiations on customs duties.
And the imposition of additional customs duties by 10% on the majority of the goods imported by the United States from the rest of the world came into effect on Saturday.
As of Wednesday, it is expected that dozens of major commercial partners of the United States will intensify based on a decision of US President Donald Trump, including the European Union (20%) and China (34%).
The American economy was damaged
The director of the American National Economic Council, who provides consultations to the American president in the field of economic policy, said that the countries that proposed the start of talks “do so because they realize that they will bear a large part of these customs duties.”
Hessate opposes the idea that the new customs duties will mainly harm the American economy.
“I don’t think we will witness a major impact on consumers in the United States,” said in an interview with ABC.
Embolicing and slowdown in consumption
Most economists expect that these new taxes will result in the goods received to the United States from the acceleration of inflation and the slowdown in consumption.
Kevin Haysit admitted that “there may be price increases,” but he pointed out that these customs recognition is a way to treat American workers) fairly, and to protect them from unjust competition.
When asked why Russia was not included in the list of countries that the United States decided to impose additional fees on its goods, Haysit referred to the ongoing negotiations with Moscow and Kiev on the war in Ukraine.
He said: “I think the president made a decision not to confuse the two issues, this does not mean that Russia will be treated for the longest possible period differently from all other countries.”
The White House explained on Wednesday that countries such as Belarus, Cuba, North Korea and Russia were not included on the customs duties list because they are subject to American sanctions that hinder trade with them.
