An urgent surgical intervention saves the eyes of a child with fireworks in Unayzah

Al -Qassim’s health gathering explained that the medical team at King Saud Hospital in Unaizah Governorate succeeded – thanks to God – in saving the eye of a 5 -year -old child, who was seriously injured as a result of a fire -off explosion “fireworks” in the face, during the celebration of the blessed Eid al -Fitr. Comprehensive, I showed his need for urgent surgical intervention, and based on medical and radiological examinations, the medical team directed the child to quickly transfer the child to the operating room to save the eye from the injury.

During the operation, the surgical team revealed the presence of a wound in the right upper eyelid, first -class burns, severe swelling, full eyelid, in addition to the remains of explosive materials inside the eye, lack of irrigation for the corneal ring, and a complete scraping of its surface, with swelling in the conjunctiva, a thorough surgical cleaning, and the removal of all the explosive remains, with a smooth adhesive lens to protect the eye.

The assembly emphasized that the process was successful, and the rapid medical intervention contributed to the demise of the swelling and the return of the vision to its normal position, while a careful treatment plan was developed to review the child’s condition in the outpatient clinics to complete his treatment.

The Qassim Health Gathering stressed the importance of educating parents to reprimand them about the danger of children’s use of fireworks, because of the serious risks to their health and safety, especially in the seasons of the celebrations, calling on everyone to completely refrain from allowing children to use these dangerous materials that may leave permanent effects or cause physical disabilities that cannot be condemned.
