Installing charger for electric cars next to the mosques soon

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure revealed its intention to launch the first facility for recycling electric car batteries at the state level, as well as installing chargers near mosques soon, noting that the UAE has topped sales of electric and hybrid cars in the region during the past year, as the sales percentage reached 25% of all car sales of all kinds.
This came in statements yesterday, to the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Eng. Sherif Al -Alami, on the sidelines of the fourth session of the “Evis Abu Dhabi 2025”, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center “ADNEC”, organized by the “Nervana Exhibitions and Conferences”, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
Car charger
The scientists said that the Emirates Charging Plants Company «UAEV» succeeded, last year, in installing 104 charging units for electric cars, and in the regard of doubling this number during the current year, while aiming to install 500 shipping units during the coming period.
He added that the company is studying the areas that need electrical charging stations to exist in, noting that the company has entered into an agreement with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, to install electric car chargers near the mosques, as well as an agreement with the Emirates Petroleum Company to install charging units also within its stations.
The scientists stated that discussions are currently taking place with the “Environment” company in Sharjah to enter the Emirate of Sharjah and install electric car chargers. He also drew attention to the signing of an exclusive contract in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to install charger for electric cars in it, in addition to discussing the chances of installing charger for cars in the rest of the state emirates.
He said that the Emirates Company for Vehicle Vehicle Charging Stations is in the process of establishing a center in the Emirate of Ajman to accommodate 20 electric cars for the purpose of charging them, while providing facilities, centers for services, restaurants and cafes, with an investment of nine million dirhams.
Pivotal platform
In his opening speech to the exhibition and the conference, the scientists said that “the exhibition and conference of electric vehicles – Evis Abu Dhabi 2025”, constitutes a pivotal platform to enhance innovation and consolidate cooperation between governmental and private agencies to support the shift towards sustainable transport.
He emphasized that the UAE put a sustainability at the heart of its national strategies, through leading initiatives, such as “Emirates Energy Strategy 2050”, “Strategic Initiative of Climate Neutage 2050”, and the national program for managing energy and water demand, where the transport sector is a major hub to achieve these ambitious visions by reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency.
Initiatives
The scientists pointed out that the ministry launched a package of qualitative initiatives to support the shift towards green movement, most notably the national policy of electric vehicles, the national guide for shipping stations, and the dual -direction guide, as well as the establishment of the “UAEV” company in partnership with the Etihad and Electricity Company, with the aim of developing an integrated national freight network that supports the spread of electric vehicles in the country.
He announced that the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in cooperation with the “Environment” company, is working to create the first facility of its kind in the region to recycle electric and hybrid vehicles batteries, which contributes to enhancing the practices of the circular economy and reducing the environmental impact.
He expressed his pride that the UAE is regional in the percentage of sales of electric vehicles and hybrids for the year 2024, pointing out that these achievements support the country’s targets by reducing more than 400 thousand tons of carbon emissions resulting from the transport sector by 2050.

For his part, the CEO of “Nervana for exhibitions and conferences”, Eng. Nasser Ali Al -Bahri, said that the exhibition is a real platform for exchange of visions and building alliances between the government and private sectors, with the aim of accelerating the steps of sustainable transformation at the region and the world.
