The CEO of the National Meteorological Center, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, confirmed to “Today” that the election of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the chairmanship of the second regional union (Asia) in the World Meteorological Organization represents a joint step in the Kingdom’s march towards enhancing its international presence in the fields of meteorology and climate, stressing that this trust from member states embodies the Kingdom’s qualitative achievements, and the advanced model it represents in air monitoring and employment. Modern technologies.
The election of Dr. Ghulam during the meetings of the eighteenth session of the second regional federation held today through visual communication, with the participation of representatives of Asian countries and the relevant organizations.
The Kingdom was elected by acclamation, in international recognition of its growing role in developing the climatic system, and supporting environmental strategies regionally and internationally.

Enhancing climate cooperation continental

In his speech to the participants, Dr. Ghulam expressed his pride in the confidence granted by the member states of the Kingdom, stressing that this mandate is a national responsibility and an opportunity to enhance climate cooperation at the continent level, noting the great support that the environmental sectors of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Highness the Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman – may God protect them – and the integration of national efforts with the target of the Kingdom’s vision 2030.

Programs to train and qualify capabilities

He pointed out that the Kingdom will work during the next stage to launch training and qualification programs aimed at building human and technical capabilities in the countries of the region, in addition to improving the infrastructure of monitoring and prediction operations, and providing platforms for exchanging knowledge and experiences, in a way that contributes to facing the accelerated environmental challenges, and enhances the readiness of societies to achieve sustainable development.
Dr. Ghulam stressed that Saudi Arabia has become effectively present in the global climate decision -making, and adopts a proactive approach in developing environmental solutions, stressing that its presidency of the Asia region will be translated into qualitative initiatives that enhance joint regional work, and opens broad prospects for integration with the World Meteorological Organization.
He expressed his confidence that the next stage will witness a qualitative shift in the mechanisms of climate cooperation within the region, stressing the Kingdom’s commitment to continuing to build effective partnerships that contribute to the well -being of societies and achieve sustainable environmental security for the countries of Asia.
