Combating fees with China harm the interests of the two countries

US Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent, confirmed that the high fees that the United States and China exchanged on commodities must be reduced before the launch of any negotiations, noting that the matter is harmful to the interests of the two countries.
He said: “I think that the escalation from both sides is possible, this is equivalent to imposing a ban, and any estrangement between the two countries on the level of trade is not in the interest of anyone.”
He explained that there was no communication between Washington and Beijing on customs tariffs, noting that President Donald Trump has not made any unilateral offer to reduce the fees on Chinese goods.

The day after the White House indicates that the United States is doing well in connection with a possible trade agreement with China, Pesent said on the sidelines of a forum in Washington, “I think that both sides are waiting for one speaking to the other.”

Non -sustainable

“None of the two parties believe that the current levels of fees are sustainable, so I will not be surprised if they are mutually retracted,” said Besent.

Since the beginning of the year, Trump imposed a 145% additional customs tariff on many Chinese products, and Beijing has received a 125% fee.

He denied the authenticity of news reports that the Trump administration was considering reducing fees on Chinese imports.

He said that Trump did not make any unilateral offer to reduce these drawings, pointing out that there is no time frame for the date of the trade talks between the United States and China.
