Abu Dhabi, April 26 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority celebrates the International Day of Veterinary Medicine, which falls on April 26, 2025, and the world celebrates this year under the slogan “Animal Health requires a team.”
This slogan, announced by the World Federation of Veterinary Doctors, confirms the importance of cooperative work between different specializations, and the concerted efforts of veterinarians, technicians, livestock breeders and society, to provide high -quality veterinary services.
The authority’s participation in this occasion reflects its commitment to support and appreciate the efforts of its veterinary cadres, which is a living example of this continuous collective effort, and continues to implement its sixteenth annual campaign to introduce animal diseases and fortifications (2024-2025), which continues until the end of this month and aims to fortify approximately 2.4 million heads of sheep, goats and cows against major diseases such as plague Footnicide and kafat disease. This huge campaign carries out a specialized veterinary teams specialized in close cooperation with livestock breeders.
During the current month, the authority launched, in parallel with field immunization efforts, intensive awareness campaigns targeting livestock breeders to enhance biological security practices and prevent diseases, focusing on the importance of isolating new or suspected animals and cooperating with veterinary teams by immediately reporting any pathological symptoms or suspicious deaths through the free number 800555.
The campaigns also emphasize the need to maintain the cleanliness and purification of the barns and equipment regularly, provide a healthy environment for animals, buy animals and fodder from reliable and licensed sources, and also include specific guidelines for the prevention of common diseases, and emphasize the personal hygiene of workers, safe disposal of waste and dead animals, and avoiding slaughtering outside the approved slaughterhouses, with the aim of enabling breeders to be the first defense line And an effective part of the national team to protect livestock and public health.
The authority confirms that its commitment to applying biological security requirements, as well as protecting and awareness campaigns, contributes to enhancing control over animal diseases.
His Excellency Rashid Mohammed Al -Mansoori, Executive Director of the Livestock Sector in the Authority, stressed that the slogan of this year “Animal Health requires a team” that reflects the practical reality of the efforts of the authority, as preventive and awareness campaigns such as the annual fortification campaign and current introductory campaigns, and control efforts require close cooperation between veterinary teams, educators and society, stressing that everyone works as a team to ensure animal health, food safety, and health protection General.
He added that the authority continues to invest in building the capabilities of its veterinary cadres through internal and external training programs, participating in scientific conferences, and composing the specialized references to develop veterinary education, in addition to establishing accredited reference centers such as camel diseases center and reference laboratories for coronary virus.
