Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting to discuss the unified purchase report on studying the current situation to consume the drugs of some pathological groups, in light of the state’s tendencies to localize the drug industries and rationalize consumption. & nbsp; The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister for Public Health Initiatives Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Head of the General Authority for Health Insurance, Dr. Peter Wajih, Head of the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, and Dr. Hind Ashour, Head of the Central Department of Pharmacy. Regarding the localization of the pharmaceutical industry, as a strategic axis to achieve self -sufficiency and promote drug security in Egypt. The minister stressed during the meeting the importance of ensuring the reaches of the treatment of its entitlements in a fair and effective manner, stressing that the ministry is working in coordination with all the concerned authorities to put control mechanisms and accurate follow -up to ensure the optimal use of medicines, in line with the state’s vision towards reforming the health sector. The meeting discussed the consumption of antibiotics and vitamins, and increased interest in the local production of medicines, noting the success of the state’s efforts to reduce the consumption of antibiotics, as part of its efforts to confront bacteria resisting antibiotics. Until the minister concluded the meeting by directing the ministry sectors by preparing a comprehensive statement to ensure optimal use & nbsp; For medicines, while reviewing their scientific data, in order to ensure good and effective use, stressing the need to limit and review all pharmaceutical items that have local alternatives, with the aim of reducing dependence on the importer and promoting the national industry, in order to achieve a balance between the efficiency of treatment and rationalization of expenses.
