The UAE will host for the first time the 39th meeting of the organization "Cosbas-Sarat" May 27

Abu Dhabi, May 23/ WAM/ The UAE hosts the work of the thirty-ninth meeting of the World Research and Rescue Organization through the Global Satellite Telecommunications Program “COSPAS-HARSAT”, which is organized by the National Center for Research and Rescue of the National Guard, during the period from May 27 to June 5, 2025 at the Conrad Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The event, which runs for ten days, is an interactive global platform that brings together a group of authorities concerned with search and rescue operations, and the event is the largest of its kind in the world in the field of satellite use for rescue purposes.

The meeting is gaining exceptional importance, as it is held for the first time in the UAE, with the participation of more than 200 experts belonging to 45 countries.
The UAE’s hosting of the World Research and Salvation Organization meeting through the “Cosbas-Marisat” program is a new station that confirms the state’s position in a leading global destination in the fields of innovation and human cooperation, as the event enhances the presence of the country affecting the global scene, and highlights its ability to create an ideal environment for dialogue and joint work in vital issues.
The hosting also establishes the image of the Emirates as a precedent country in employing technology to serve humanity, which enhances its prestigious reputation and reflects its strategic vision in being a global center for excellence in various fields, especially in areas related to safety, rescue and protecting lives.
The meeting will witness the participation of a number of prestigious international organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization “ICAO”, the Maritime Navigation Organization, and the International Communications Organization, organizations that represent basic pillars in the strategies related to search and rescue using satellites.
The meeting agenda includes a series of closed sessions, which will discuss pivotal issues related to the use of satellites in the fields of search and rescue, as well as issues related to enhancing the efficiency of this vital sector.

Participants will also deal with ways to benefit from the advanced experiences provided by the participating international bodies, allowing the exchange of best practices and the development of joint work mechanisms to achieve tangible results on the ground.
These discussions are a basic pillar to push the innovation process in this field, and to enhance the ability of the international community to respond rapidly and effectively to emergency situations, which is consistent with the UAE’s vision in supporting global initiatives with a human and technical dimension.

The “Cosbus-Maris” is an international humanitarian organization that is concerned with coordination with regard to the global search and rescue system based on satellite, and the organization also supervises policies and operations to ensure the monitoring and transfer of distress signals in time, which contributes to supporting humanitarian tasks and search and rescue operations carried out by the competent authorities around the world.

The organization operates under the umbrella of the International Maritime Organization “IMO” and the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization “ICAO”.
