Anasi for the media organizes a discussion episode on the Arab-Islamic heritage and its linguistic heritage
Abu Dhabi, July 15 / WAM / Anasi, in cooperation with the Embassy of Malta, organized a discussion episode within the “Discussion” program, entitled “Centileina: The Arab roots in the Maltese language and the Arab era and Islam in Malta”, presented by His Excellency Mary Kamili Kalia, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the state.
The discussion episode was attended by Sheikha Al -Yazia bint Nahyan Al Nahyan, the first ambassador for Arab Culture to the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECO), and a number of ambassadors and wives of ambassadors and members of the diplomatic body in the country, in addition to a number of personalities and interested in culture and members of a discussion date.
His Excellency Mary Kamili Kalia provided a rich exploration of the development of Malta language and the deep historical ties with the Arab -Islamic world.
During the discussion episode, I dealt with a number of axes, the most important of which is “Centileina”, which is the oldest literary text known for the Maltese, and dates back to the fifteenth century, and the text was written in Latin letters, and it is considered a linguistic treasure that reflects the Maltese language in its beginnings, which was then considered a “Arabic language” due to the philosophy and its supreme structure in the first place.
Ambassador Kamili Kalia discussed that this poem works as a linguistic bridge between the high heritage of Malta and its European identity, and also presented a historical context on the Arab-Islamic era in Malta, which spanned around the year 870 to 1091 AD, and he left during this period a permanent imprint on the island’s language, culture and identity, a influence that still constitutes the Maltese people and their position in the euro-Mediterranean region.
Kamili Kalia emphasized the need for cultural cooperation and knowledge sharing to enhance mutual understanding and respect among various societies.
At the end of the episode, the door for discussion was opened, as the attendees raised important questions about the unique linguistic scene in Malta and its importance to the contemporary cultural identity.
