Ministry of Health: The UAE is a pioneer in combating hepatitis

Dubai, July 27/ WAM/ The Ministry of Health and Community Protection confirmed that confronting viral hepatitis is a key axis in national health policies, through the solidarity and efforts of the health sector in the country and the application of an integrated national program that focuses on prevention, early detection and treatment, which highlights the level of effective partnership between various governmental and private health sectors, within the framework of the UAE commitment to enhance the capabilities of the health system to protect society,
This came in a statement issued by the ministry today, on the occasion of the World Habitis Day 2025, which falls on July 28 of each year, and this year holds the slogan “hepatitis: easy steps to eliminate it”, to recall the importance of prevention of joining efforts and commitment to address this disease, by raising the level of societal awareness, educating individuals on ways of prevention, and the importance of conducting periodic examinations, in addition to expanding the scope of providing health care and integrating care And ending hepatitis, as a threat to public health by 2030 to coincide with the global plan.
His Excellency Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al -Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, stressed that the Ministry and health authorities continue their intensive efforts to provide high quality health services, by supporting health care providers with the latest diagnostic protocols and tools for developing effective preventive plans, in addition to expanding the scope of specialized examination and treatment services and adopting international best practices in this field.
He added that, based on the firm commitment of the ministry to achieve the goals set by the World Health Organization to get rid of hepatitis by 2030, the state initiated since 1991 to include the hepatitis B vaccine within the basic vaccinations in the national immunization program, where the coverage rates with hepatitis vaccination reached 98%, stressing that the UAE is a leader in applying this advanced preventive approach through this early initiative.
The comprehensive approach that the state follows in the face of this disease is based on basic axes that include raising the level of societal awareness, strengthening partnership between the various health sectors and available resources and building policies on established scientific foundations supported by data and evidence, as well as setting preventive plans aimed at preventing the spread of the disease and expanding the advanced diagnostic and treatment services circle.
The rational government pays attention to updating the legislative system in a way that enhances the society’s ability to resist diseases, as the procedures for medical fitness examinations for different groups have developed, and the examination of free of hepatitis B and C virus was included, in addition to providing vaccination service for certain groups such as travelers and health workers and subject to various pre -marriage and professional examinations.
The state’s efforts in employing advanced technology to public health service are highlighted through the application of the developed “fort”, which includes an advanced feature to follow up on preventive vaccinations for children and members of society, which facilitates tracking health records and documenting data and information electronically, through the application of the finest international health standards to consolidate a proactive and sustainable health system and is compatible with the vision of “We UAE 2031” and “Emirates Celsius 2071”.
