Abu Dhabi, August 20 / WAM / ADNEC Group obtained a “Sumpome Year: Saying and Act”, in appreciation of its concrete achievements supported by data in the field of environmental leadership and sustainable innovation.
The award came after an open national invitation to the authorities in the UAE to present its creative and societal efforts in harmony with the “Sustainability Year 2024” goals.
The brand is granted on the initiative of the “Year of Sustainability” in the UAE, to confirm the continuation of strengthening sustainable practices across all sectors, while the initiative this year focused on the shift from learning to implementation in four areas: green transport, rationalization of energy and water, responsible consumption, and sustainable smart agriculture.
This honor is a sign of the growing positive impact of the group’s efforts and sustainable initiatives, as it has committed to a comprehensive change in its operations, and this is evident in the transformation of the Denic Abu Dhabi Center to work with clean energy by 100%, through its dependence on multiple sources of clean energy such as solar energy, wind and nuclear energy, thanks to the agreement with the Emirates Water and Electricity Company.
All carbon emissions resulting from electricity consumption through international renewable energy certificates “IRECS”, approved by the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi, will compensate for the first and largest center of its kind in the region, and the group also spoke air conditioning systems using artificial intelligence, which is expected to reduce the annual electricity consumption of the center by about 20%, equivalent to about six million kilowatts.

In its operations, the ADNEC Group relies on the principles of waste reduction and the application of the circular economy as a pivotal component in its operational strategy, where more than half the total waste generated in various sectors of the group’s business, while the “Capital Hospitality”, which belongs to the group, contributes to this effort by treating up to 1200 kilograms of food waste per day, and converting it into fertilizer or optimizer For soil.
The group’s efforts included strengthening societal awareness through partnerships with “rotation”, “Naama” and the Red Crescent Authority, by donating excess food and awareness campaigns, and has strengthened local purchases through the national content program, and followed clear supply practices in the supply chain.
This honor reflects the group’s strategy to reach zero carbon emissions, which includes reducing the carbon footprint of each employee by 25% by 2030.
The group adds another achievement to its record in the field of sustainability through the solar PV project to be implemented on the surfaces of the ADIC Abu Dhabi Center, where the project is expected to provide more than 8.5 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy annually, which contributes to meeting about 30% of the center’s electricity needs and reduces carbon emissions, equivalent to six thousand metric tons annually.
