The safety of aviation in the Emirates … global leadership with an innovative approach and innovative technology

Abu Dhabi, September 11 / WAM / The UAE continues to consolidate its position as one of the safest countries in the aviation sector, by building an integrated air safety system based on a strict regulatory approach, proactive employment of technology, and continuous development of human cadres.

This leadership was embodied by the state obtaining 98.86% in the comprehensive audit program for safety control of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which is one of the highest global rates.

Based on its firm conviction that safety is not just a technical condition, but rather the main pillar to ensure the continuity of flights and passengers of passengers, the General Authority of Civil Aviation adopts an accurate approach that includes the implementation of renewable national plans and a periodic evaluation of procedures, in line with international best practices and enhances readiness and response.

The state’s strategy depends on the “National Aviation Safety Plan 2023 -2026”, which is compatible with the global plan issued by “ICAO”, which aims to reduce operational risks, enhance organizational control, and establish a safety culture as an institutional principle in the aviation environment.

In this context, the human element is an essential pillar, as the authority invests in the rehabilitation of inspectors and technical experts and developing their skills to keep pace with the requirements of modern control and deal with complex operating environments; In the event of the effectiveness of this approach, during the year 2024, the safety sector in the authority carried out more than 900 regulatory operations that included aircraft inspection, the review of foreign operators, the evaluation of operational operations, the examination of licenses, the review of the infrastructure and the air field.

To accelerate the pace of supervisory work and raise its efficiency, the UAE was globally precedent in implementing the first smart supervision system based on risk and artificial intelligence, which provides instant control panels for risk monitoring, smart tools to determine the priorities of the audit, lists of automated achievement, and electronic platforms for self -evaluation.

This approach represents a qualitative shift in the supervisory work that is consistent with the vision of “We Emirates 2031” that puts innovation and institutional flexibility at the heart of its policies; Believing that safety is a collective responsibility, the authority is working to consolidate the culture of voluntary reporting and transparency through the “Vorsy” platform, a system for gathering information about the potential risks that may not be monitored by mandatory reporting systems.

In another proactive step, the state launched the first national protocol to monitor infectious diseases in the aviation sector, which includes early warning systems, an instant optical alert system and field training programs. This protocol won an official praise and accreditation from the International Civil Aviation Organization and the World Health Organization, to become a reference for future global systems.

The authority also continues to enhance the state’s position as a global axis for technical dialogue and exchange of experiences by hosting major international events, such as the third airline conference, alternative fuel types, the meetings of the regional aviation safety groups, and the ICAO World Eco Support Calls “Giss 2025”.

These efforts embody the integration between organizational efficiency, technological development, institutional awareness and international dialogue, to present an Emirati model in air safety to be followed globally, and reflects the state’s position as one of the most prominent influencers in the future of safe and sustainable civil aviation.
