“Zero bureaucracy” reduced 496 procedures and eliminated 90 requirements

The General Authority of Civil Aviation revealed that the “Zeroing Bureaucracy” program, during its first phase, resulted in positive numbers, through the completion of 52 zeroing operations, reducing more than 496 procedures, canceling more than 90 requirements, and deleting 82 documents.

The Authority stated during the Civil Aviation Services Zeroing Forum yesterday that it aims, during the second phase of the program, to work on employing artificial intelligence techniques in developing its services and operational processes.

In detail, the General Authority of Civil Aviation organized the Zeroing Forum for Civil Aviation Services under the title “Journey towards the Future: Artificial Intelligence and Zeroing Bureaucracy in Aviation Services,” at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University in Dubai, in the presence and wide participation of representatives of the civil aviation sector in the country, government agencies and partners.

The forum witnessed a review of the most prominent efforts and initiatives in the field of zeroing out bureaucracy at the level of the civil aviation sector in the country, including the initiatives implemented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the most important of which is the launch of the Authority’s strategy for artificial intelligence, and the presentation of the Authority’s sustainable system in the field of zeroing out bureaucracy, which was presented using artificial intelligence techniques.

The forum also witnessed participation from a number of stakeholders in the civil aviation sector to review their successful practices and experiences in enhancing the flexibility of services and zeroing procedures, in line with the state’s directions. Participating parties included Abu Dhabi Airports, Dubai International Airport, Etihad Airways, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Flydubai, Sharjah International Airport, Air Arabia, and Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.

The Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saif Al Suwaidi, said: “The UAE has proven, through the civil aviation sector, that innovation and administrative flexibility are the basis for sustainable leadership,” stressing that “the program to zero out bureaucracy at the Authority has become a strategic path and a sustainable approach, aiming to develop customer experience, raise the efficiency of institutional performance, and enhance the sector’s competitiveness.”

Al Suwaidi explained that the program resulted in positive numbers during its first phase, through the completion of 52 zeroing operations, reducing more than 496 procedures, canceling more than 90 requirements, and deleting 82 documents, which resulted in saving more than 32 thousand working hours and reducing more than four tons of carbon emissions during the year 2024, while work is underway to achieve better results for the year 2025.

He added that the Authority aims, during the second phase of the program, to work on employing artificial intelligence technologies in developing its services and operational processes, through a package of initiatives and programs under implementation, most notably the launch of the Authority’s national strategy for artificial intelligence, improving operational processes using modern technologies, developing smart applications to improve the experience of customers and employees, enhancing integration with partners in the government and private sectors, and expanding the scope of the use of analysis. Predictive planning and monitoring, as well as adopting smart systems to manage performance and quality of services.

The participants stressed the importance of the forum in exchanging experiences and reviewing successful experiences in developing aviation sector services and enhancing their flexibility.

The organization of the forum comes within the framework of the General Civil Aviation Authority’s commitment to applying best practices in the field of zeroing out bureaucracy, and spreading the culture of zeroing bureaucracy at the level of the civil aviation sector in the country, in a way that enhances the competitiveness of government and aviation-related services, and contributes to achieving the UAE’s vision towards a more efficient and innovative government in the civil aviation sector.
