The President of the State and the President of the European Council discuss cooperation relations between the UAE and the European Union and regional developments

Abu Dhabi, 28 October / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Excellency Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, discussed various aspects of cooperation and joint work between the UAE, the European Union and member states and opportunities to expand its horizons at all levels in a way that enhances common interests and benefits everyone.
This came during His Highness the President’s reception today at the Beach Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Antonio Costa, who is on a working visit to the country.
The meeting touched on the importance of the ongoing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and the European Union to push relations towards further growth and prosperity and a shift in trade and economic cooperation to serve common development goals.
His Highness and the President of the European Council also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest, most notably the developments in the Middle East region and developments in the occupied Palestinian territory, stressing the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which allows the continued provision of adequate and sustainable humanitarian support to the residents of the Strip… in addition to intensifying international efforts to push in the direction of a clear path to permanent and comprehensive peace based on the “two-state solution” for the benefit of all the peoples of the region. And its countries.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening diplomatic efforts and dialogue to resolve crises in the Middle East and Europe, as it is the way to maintain security and stability in the region and the world.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, and a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior state officials.
