Russian official: We have not received information about the start of American preparations for nuclear tests

Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, confirmed that there is no information yet about the start of American practical preparations to conduct nuclear tests.
Ulyanov said, in response to a question about whether the Americans were preparing for the tests: “As far as I know, no, we have not received any information about any ongoing practical preparations, and this is probably a good thing,” noting that American officials proudly talk about their complete transparency, and that they have invited everyone who wants to visit the closed test site in Nevada.
He added, citing this example: " We were also invited, and that was several years ago, but we did not fall for the trick because it was cheap advertising, or meaningless, or perhaps with the aim of requesting access to our test field on Novaya Zemlya in return.".
The “Russia Today” channel reported: Ulyanov confirmed that the United States would need between several months and several years to conduct nuclear tests, according to documents from previous administrations, and continued: " There are 3 options for conducting nuclear tests, if a positive decision is made to proceed. In the first scenario, preparation takes 12 months or a year, and in the second scenario, 24 months. Finally, it takes 36 months to prepare for a full nuclear test.".
He stressed that there is no indication yet that the Americans will agree to this, and added: " I don’t know what’s on their minds. In any case, Russia is taking a constructive approach. We are at least proposing ways out of this difficult situation. We have not heard anything from the Americans. In fact, time is running out, there is only a very short time left before the New START Treaty expires".
