US stocks rose at the beginning of Wednesday trading

Major stock indices on Wall Street opened higher on Wednesday as investors evaluated a new set of economic data and strengthened their expectations that the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) may cut interest rates next December..
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 83.7 points, or 0.18 percent, to 47,196.15 points, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 27.7 points, or 0.41 percent, to 6,793.55 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 137.6 points, or 0.60 percent, to 23,163.194 points..
