UN spokesman: Israel has displaced more than 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of the year

The United Nations announced that Israel has displaced more than a thousand Palestinians since the beginning of this year in the West Bank, within areas classified as “C”.

 

Deputy spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq, said – according to what was reported by the Palestinian News Agency “Wafa” Today, Saturday – “Based on UN data, since the beginning of the year, more than a thousand people have been displaced in Area C, which constitutes about 60 percent of the West Bank, as a result of the demolition of their homes.”

 

He added: The attacks of the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank have escalated during the past two years, coinciding with the war of extermination on Gaza, in which the ceasefire entered into force on Sunday. Last October 11.

 

He explained that most of the Palestinians who were displaced had their homes demolished; Under the pretext that they do not have building permits, noting that this level of displacement represents “the second highest annual rate.” Recorded since 2009.
