Race start "BAIC Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo" From Al Ain next Sunday
Abu Dhabi, December 19 / WAM / The “Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo” bicycle race will start next Sunday, for a distance of 150 kilometers, from the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in the Al Ain region, all the way to the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba region in Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council explained that the financial prizes for the race are worth two million dirhams, distributed among 364 prizes, an increase of 44 prizes over the 2024 edition, in a step that reflects the continuous growth of the event, and the organizing committee’s keenness to honor the largest possible number of participants.
The race is considered one of the most prominent sporting events in the country, contributing to strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center for organizing cycling championships, in addition to highlighting the role of this sport in supporting healthy lifestyles within society.
The racing village opened its doors during the Sheikh Zayed Festival, to receive race participants and hand over bags and other supplies.
The organizing committee issued the official guide for the race, which includes details of the route, regulations, starting points, and water refueling stations along the way.
His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said that the “Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo” race is an essential driver of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s ambitions to become a leading global destination for bicycle sports, as it is a competitive race that brings together amateurs and professionals, and continues to have a strong presence during its fourth edition.
He added that the fourth edition of the race is witnessing strong competition over a 150-kilometre route from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi, after the fundamental change in the race route and moving the starting point to the city of Al Ain, in addition to financial prizes amounting to two million dirhams distributed among 364 winners.
