المملكة: Wide international participation in the International Dust Storms Conference in Riyadh

The Executive Director of the Center, Jamaan Al-Qahtani, confirmed that the preparation for the second edition comes as a continuation of the strategic gains achieved by the first edition, which culminated in the issuance of a “Declaration.” Riyadh” as a reference document and a comprehensive action map to deal with the issue of dust and sand storms at all international levels. The conference, in its new edition, seeks to strengthen the coordination framework between the countries of the region to deal efficiently with cross-border dust storms, with a focus on supporting the efforts of the countries exporting these storms to reduce their negative effects at the source. The conference agenda aims to conduct in-depth scientific studies to uncover the precise causes of the storms. This strategic move comes as an extension of the successive successes achieved by the Kingdom in the environmental file, the most recent of which is hosting the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to Combat Desertification and Drought (COP16), which formed a launching pad for qualitative international partnerships to confront climate change.
