Dubai, February 28 / WAM / Today, the Roads and Transport Authority opened a main bridge with a second level, as part of the Trade Center Roundabout Development Project, with a length of 1,000 metres, a capacity of two lanes, and a capacity of 3,000 vehicles per hour. It serves traffic coming from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, towards the Al Karama area and the Deira area.
The completed bridge contributes to enhancing the flow of traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road towards Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road, reducing travel time from six minutes to one minute, in addition to reducing traffic density on the Trade Center roundabout.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said that the Trade Center Roundabout development project is one of the most important main intersections in the city of Dubai, and connects Sheikh Zayed Road to five vital streets: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Rashid Street, 2nd of December Street, Zabeel Palace Street, and Majlis Street, indicating that work on the project is progressing at a faster pace than the approved timetable, out of the Authority’s keenness to facilitate the movement of residents, and it has reached The completion rate in the overall project is more than 60%, as three bridges have been opened, and work is still underway to implement two bridges, which serve traffic from Sheikh Rashid Street and Majlis Street, towards 2nd December Street, and according to the program, they will be opened next October.
He stressed that the project, upon completion, will contribute to reducing the delay rate at the intersection, from 12 minutes to 90 seconds, and enhancing the flow of traffic coming from Sheikh Zayed Road towards 2nd December Street, and traffic coming from Al-Mustaqbal Street towards Sheikh Zayed Road to the south, as well as providing free traffic from 2nd December Street (Jumeirah and Satwa) to Majlis Street leading to Al-Mustaqbal Street (Dubai World Trade Center and Dubai International Financial Centre), and Sheikh Rashid Street towards the Deira area, and providing Free traffic movement from Sheikh Zayed Road, towards Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street.
The project includes the implementation of five bridges with a length of 5,000 metres, providing free traffic in several directions. In addition to the bridge that opened today, it connects Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street.
