Because of 1.5 degrees.. China records its warmest autumn since 1961
The average temperature at the national level reached 11.8 degrees Celsius, compared to 10.3 degrees on average, the center stated in a post on the Chinese social network “WeChat”.
Heat waves and drought
China, like the rest of the world, is facing a significant increase in temperature levels, leading to increasingly frequent heatwaves, droughts and floods.
China has also witnessed urbanization and a rapid increase in the number of factories, causing an increase in urban heat islands.
China is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, in absolute terms, that contribute to this climate disruption, and has pledged to reach peak emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
Exceptional temperatures
The exceptional temperatures recorded in the fall also affected the Chinese territory differently, according to the National Climate Center.
Temperatures rose more sharply in the center of the country, with increases of between 4 and 6 degrees in certain areas of Jiangxi or Hubei province, but also in the west, such as in Xinjiang.
A total of 16 provinces and regions, including Liaoning, Tianjin and Chongqing, have set record temperatures since 1961.
This year, China had already recorded the hottest August since 1961, and suffered a summer characterized by extreme weather phenomena and heat waves that struck most of its northern and western regions.
