The fall of Bashar al-Assad
This Monday afternoon, the UN Security Council will hold an emergency closed session of discussions on Syria after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad, according to what identical diplomatic sources reported to Agence France-Presse.
Russia’s Assistant Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, said via Telegram: “In connection with the recent events in Syria, whose repercussions on this country and the entire region were not assessed, Russia requested closed emergency consultations in the UN Security Council.”
