Sharjah Consultant approves a draft law regarding retirement pensions for military personnel

Sharjah, December 15 / WAM / The Advisory Council of the Emirate of Sharjah approved a draft law regarding retirement pensions and end-of-service benefits for military personnel in regular bodies in the emirate, following the discussion of the draft law in its fifth session, as part of its work for the second regular session of the eleventh legislative term, headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Council.

The session was attended by His Excellency Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, His Excellency Counselor Dr. Issa bin Hanzal, Director of the Sharjah Government Legal Department, Brigadier Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, and Brigadier Dr. Muhammad Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences. Colonel Dr. Ruqaya Jassim Al-Mazmi, Director of the Social Support Center, and Colonel Abdul Rahman Muhammad bin Ashour, Director of the Resources and Support Services Department at the General Command. Major General Bin Amer stressed the importance of the current draft law, which is a continuation of the previous two drafts, and that it constitutes a qualitative addition to the current work system and enhances the competencies of the police force, and includes the Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences, the General Command of the Emiri Guard, and the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, appreciating the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, continuous follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Council Executive.

Member Muhammad Ali Jaber Al-Hammadi, Chairman of the Council’s Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee, reviewed the committee’s report on the draft law, and the texts and articles of the law. The discussion focused on regulating the member’s entitlements at the end of military service and the scope of application, in addition to the conditions and subscriptions of the member, the percentage of monthly contributions, and the regulating materials, in a way that achieves the public interest of workers in the military sector.

In their interventions, the members presented a number of opinions on the articles of the draft law, and the government representatives responded to the inquiries by explaining aspects of the legal interpretation of those articles, as well as aspects of work in implementing the law in accordance with the aforementioned articles and what they mean.
