المملكة: Launching a project to monitor environmental environments by satellite in early 2025

The National Center for Monitoring Environmental Compliance has set the first quarter of 2025 as the date for launching its new project to monitor environmental environments, using remote sensing techniques via satellite.
The center explained that the project aims to enhance the monitoring and protection of water, soil and air, assess the impact of human activities, provide a framework for future management plans and environmental policies, in addition to identifying areas that require treatment or protection to achieve a sustainable environment.
Director General of the Environmental Modeling and Data Analysis Department, Dr. Muhammad Daghriri, said: The project will focus on using satellite data to monitor the quality of air, water, and soil, and analyze environmental changes resulting from human activities and climate changes. This will contribute to collecting accurate data about environmental pollution, which will help Executive departments in making improved environmental decisions.

Daghriri added that the project will include several stages, including collecting and processing environmental data to provide accurate reports, providing information to government institutions and companies, and improving data collection and analysis techniques over time.
He stressed that the project will provide valuable information to scientists and research centers about environmental changes, which will help in dealing with environmental disasters such as dust storms and oil spills.
He noted that the data collected will focus on monitoring changes in vegetation and water cover, the distribution of ecosystems, and measuring emissions such as carbon dioxide and other air pollutants.
