المملكة: What is the validity period of an international or foreign license to drive a vehicle in the Kingdom?

Saudi Traffic has set the conditions for driving a vehicle in the Kingdom with an international or foreign license.
Traffic published a list of those conditions through its official account on the X platform.

List of conditions

– The license is compatible with the type of vehicle.
– Translation of the license from an approved authority.
– Driving with a license for one year from the date of entry, or until its expiration (whichever comes first).
– Allowing driving with a license issued by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries during its validity period.
The international driving license issued by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries is not valid.

Safe driving during rain

In light of the rainy season in the Kingdom, Saudi Traffic provides some necessary advice for driving safely and avoiding risks:

  • Reduce speed as much as possible because rain usually obscures visibility.
  • Leave a safe distance from the car in front of you so that you can deal with any sudden situation.
  • Keep both hands on the leash at all times.
  • Stay away from anything that might distract, such as a phone or radio.
  • Turn on headlights during heavy rain, even during the day, to determine the location of drivers on the road.
  • Check the condition of the car’s tires first.
  • Avoid driving near large pools of water, as it may lead to the car drifting.
  • Drive carefully on streets populated with pedestrians, being careful not to spray people with water.
