"Islamic cooperation" Welcomes the United Nations decision to request an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on Israel’s obligations

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed the decision of the United Nations General Assembly to request a fatwa from the International Court of Justice regarding Israel’s obligations with regard to the presence and activities of the United Nations, other international organizations and third countries, appreciating the efforts of the Kingdom of Norway and all countries that participated in sponsoring and supporting the draft resolution.

The organization confirmed – in a statement today, Friday, reported by the Saudi News Agency “SPA” – That all plans and measures of the Israeli occupation, including legislation affecting the existence of the operations and immunities of the United Nations, its entities and bodies, including UNRWA, Other international organizations and third countries in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, constitute a violation of the United Nations Charter and its relevant resolutions, and would deprive the Palestinian people of basic assistance and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis they are suffering from.

The organization also welcomed the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution on the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources… calling on all countries and organizations International organizations, including the United Nations and its agencies and bodies, call for the need to work to end the Israeli occupation and enable the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, including their right to self-determination and establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
