It spread to the capital.. A 5.3 magnitude earthquake strikes South Africa
Today, Sunday, an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck western South Africa, including the capital, Cape Town.
The US Geological Survey said the epicenter of the quake was 101 kilometers west of the small town of Brandvlei in the Northern Cape Province.
Strong tremors were recorded in Cape Town, the legislative capital of South Africa, and so far no official reports have recorded material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake.
