Repercussions of the Magdeburg attack.. The German Foreign Ministry announces a review process

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced the start of a review process in the coming days, following the fatal car-ramming attack that occurred in the city of Magdeburg, eastern Germany.
During a visit to the Christmas market in the city of Kleinmachov, Birbock said, “The security services are in the process of doing so.” Birbock saw that after the hit-and-run accident, the question arose whether this violent crime could be prevented.

Several agencies had previously received information about the perpetrator of the attack, who is known for his hostility to Islam, and Interior Minister Nancy Weiser, in turn, pledged to work to quickly uncover the circumstances of the crime.
Berbock also confirmed that the focus during the days following the attack is on compassion for those affected and the families of the victims.
She pointed out the importance of clarifying that Christmas markets will be preserved as “places of community solidarity and coexistence.”

Baerbock believed that the duty, especially in moments of sadness, is to “be together, stand together, and grieve together with the people of Magdeburg.”

The attacker drove his car into the Christmas market in Magdeburg on Friday evening, and raided a group of people, killing five people and wounding more than 200 others.
Government agencies have also previously received reports about him, as he drew attention to him years ago by making threats.

Christmas attack in Germany

German Chancellor Olaf Schulz described the bloody attack on the Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg as a “terrible and crazy act,” and the attack left at least five dead and about 200 wounded.
“There is no place more peaceful and joyful than the Christmas market… What a terrible act,” Schulz said while inspecting the crime scene on Saturday.
Schulz announced a comprehensive investigation into the crime, stressing that it is now important to conduct investigations with the utmost precision.

The need to understand the perpetrator of the crime

“Nothing should be left unexamined, and that is what will happen,” he continued, stressing the need to carefully understand the perpetrator, his actions and motives and respond to them with criminal consequences.
Schulz stated that it is important for him in such a terrible event “to stay together as a country, to stand together, and to support each other, so that hatred does not threaten our coexistence.”
