French losses
The Senegalese president said in a rare interview with the media, “Senegal is an independent country, a sovereign country, and sovereignty does not allow the presence of foreign military bases.”
France, a former colonial power in most parts of Africa, has faced opposition from some African leaders over what is said to be its insulting and harsh approach towards the continent.
French forces have already left Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, and this month began the process of exiting Chad after decades of military cooperation.
