America delivers 100 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas to Ukraine

Ukraine has received its first batch of liquefied natural gas from the United States.
She explained that this deal will enhance Ukrainian and European energy security with the end of the major gas transportation deal with Russia.

American natural gas

It was stated in a statement that D-Tech, the largest private energy company in Ukraine, received the first shipment of liquefied natural gas from.
The company confirmed that the gas shipment, amounting to about 100 million cubic meters, was the first American shipment to Ukraine, which has been hit by Russian attacks on its energy network throughout the three-year war.
The company received the shipment via pipeline, with delivery of liquefied natural gas, to a Greek regasification terminal in the Mediterranean on Friday.
“Such shipments not only provide the region with a resilient and secure source of energy, but they further erode Russia’s influence over our energy system,” CEO Maxim Timchenko said in the statement.

Impact of Russian attacks on Ukraine

Following major Russian attacks, Ukraine has repeatedly increased its emergency imports of electricity from neighboring EU countries.
Kiev says securing direct supplies of liquefied natural gas from the United States will help relieve some of the pressure on the European gas market.
The European Union has significantly increased its purchases of American liquefied natural gas since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, but it has failed to completely cut the energy link with Moscow.

Trump’s threats to Europe

Several officials, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, have suggested increasing gas supplies from the United States as an alternative to Russian energy.
US President-elect Donald Trump threatened Europe with tariffs if it did not buy more American gas.
