The UAE capital market will add 257 billion dirhams to its market value in 2024

Abu Dhabi, 31 December / WAM / The local financial markets concluded the year 2024 by adding about 257 billion dirhams to their market value, driven by the positive performance of the economy in general and its natural reflection on the performance and gains of listed companies, the attractiveness of local markets for liquidity, and attracting more foreign investments. And the initial offerings witnessed this year.
The market value of shares in the Dubai and Abu Dhabi markets exceeded 3.905 trillion dirhams at the end of this year, compared to about 3.648 trillion dirhams at the end of the previous year, 2023.
With this performance, the local markets consolidated the momentum they had begun over the past years, strengthening their position as one of the most prominent investment destinations in the region and the world.
The market value of the Abu Dhabi Securities Market grew to 2.998 trillion dirhams at the end of the session on December 31, 2024, compared to the last market sessions in 2023 when the market value reached about 2.961 trillion dirhams.
The Dubai Financial Market increased its market capitalization to reach 906.912 billion dirhams at the end of the current year 2024, compared to about 687.5 billion dirhams at the end of the previous year.
Regarding trades, during the year 2024, the local markets attracted more than 449 billion dirhams, distributed at about 342.4 billion dirhams in the Abu Dhabi Securities Market and about 106.7 billion dirhams in the Dubai Financial Market.
The amount of shares traded during the year amounted to more than 142 billion shares, with 90.16 billion shares in Abu Dhabi and 51.85 billion shares in Dubai, while trading took place through more than 7.2 million transactions distributed by 4.655 million in Abu Dhabi and 2.55 million in Dubai.
At the end of the 2024 sessions, the FTSE Abu Dhabi General Market Index, “FADGI”, closed its session at the level of 9419 points, while the Dubai Financial Market General Index concluded its session above the level of 5158 points.
