A consultant for Al -Madina: 10 errors in which some sugar in Ramadan makes

Professor and Consultant of Endocrine and Diabetes at the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Professor Abdel -Maine, Eid Al -Agha, revealed 10 errors made by some diabetics in Ramadan. He told Al -Madinah that these errors were the following:

• Eat multiple or large meals between breakfast and suhoor, which makes the ability to high blood sugar for long periods.

• Eat large amounts of food at breakfast, which raises the level of sugar in the blood and leads to weight gain.

• Eat large quantities of treated sugars and carbohydrates at and after breakfast, which leads to a sharp rise in the level of sugar in the blood.

Professor Al -Agha added that the mistakes also included:

• Eat sweets that contain many sugars after breakfast, which leads to a high level of sugar in the blood for long periods.

• Eat more fried foods, which makes a diabetic in case of uncomfortable.

• Sleeping immediately after breakfast, which paves the way to gain weight.

• Eat large amounts of foods rich in highly sugar carbohydrates (such as sugar, potatoes, rice and wheat products) in suhoor, which leads to a sharp rise in the level of sugar in the blood after the meal.

Not to practice any physical activity, and this may lead to weight gain.

• Eating suhoor early, which may lead to a low level of sugar in the blood before breakfast, especially when fasting hours are long.

• The patient does not conduct diabetes measurements throughout the day, if he does not use and control devices for the disease management, then the lack of follow -up of diabetes measurement

It makes the patient out of knowledge of the indicators of blood sugar measurement and thus the possibility of being exposed to any complications -God forbid -.

Professor Al -Agha concluded by saying: The diabetic patient must follow the medical and nutritional advice of Ramadan, which was directed to him by his doctor, so attention to health in the month of Ramadan is one of the necessities that must be paid attention to, especially for the diabetic patient who has to take the necessary precautions to protect his health from exposure to problems, and he must follow the attending physician, and ensure the prevention of health problems -God forbid.
