The Emir of the Northern Borders launches the national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Northern Border Region, inaugurated the national measles and rubella vaccination campaign, which was launched by the Ministry of Health to achieve the goals of the health sector transformation program within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

This came during his reception in his office today, the Director of Health Affairs in the region, Alwan Al-Shamrani, and the CEO of the Health Cluster, Marwan Al-Yahya, where His Highness witnessed the vaccination of a number of children within the age group targeted by the campaign.

The campaign aims to achieve comprehensive coverage of target groups and enhance collective immunity to reduce transmission of infection, as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to eliminate measles and rubella by the end of 2028, and to develop health infrastructure to ensure a healthy and sustainable society.

The campaign targets children from the age of 6 months to 18 years. The first phase includes vaccinating children from 6 months to 6 years in health centers and kindergartens, while the second phase will be devoted to vaccinating other groups within schools, educational institutions and technical institutes.
