The ambulance teams of the The Saudi Red Crescentin the Medina region, with God’s grace and success, was able to save the life of a 61-year-old pilgrim of Indonesian nationality, and restore his pulse after he suffered a complete cardiac and respiratory arrest inside his residence in one of the hotels located in the central area surrounding the Prophet’s Mosque.
The Director General of the Commission’s branch in the Medina region, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani, explained that the operating room at the medical deportation center in the region received the report. In case of emergency, immediately, and with the utmost speed and readiness, the nearest field-stationed ambulance team was directed to the site, where the paramedics succeeded in arriving and handling the case within a record and exceptional response time that did not exceed 3 minutes and one second (3:01 minutes).
Restoring the pulse
Dr. Al-Zahrani indicated that the ambulance team began dealing with the Indonesian pilgrim upon their arrival, and immediately began applying advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures. (CPR) in accordance with the latest medical protocols internationally approved by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, which contributed, thanks to God and His success, to the patient’s recovery of pulse and breathing in the field at the site of the case.
After his basic vital indicators stabilized and he passed the critical stage, the pilgrim was quickly transferred via an equipped ambulance to Al-Salam Endowment Hospital in Medina; To complete the examinations and receive the necessary medical care.
The Director General of the Authority’s branch in the region confirmed that this rapid and successful medical intervention embodies the high level of emergency preparedness and the intensive operational plans that the Authority implements efficiently and competently during the Hajj season, and reflects its keenness to provide the best emergency ambulance services to the guests of God and visitors to Medina around the clock, in a way that guarantees the safety of those who come to the Holy Land.
