8 people were killed in a fire in northwestern Russia

Eight people were killed as a result of a fire that broke out in a residential building in the Russian province of Kirov.
The city’s emergency services said in a statement, according to the Interfax news agency, that a fire broke out in a residential building in the village of Kelmyz, Kirov Province, northwestern Russia, inhabited by 11 people, killing eight people, while the others were able to escape immediately after the fire broke out.
The statement added that firefighting teams were able to extinguish the fire, which spread over an area of about 480 square metres, and the circumstances of the accident are currently being investigated.
