Yemen: The United Nations is concerned about the impact of air strikes on civilians

This came in the words of UN spokesman, Stephen Dujarric, at his press conference in New York, where he said that the organization’s humanitarian partners are intensifying their emergency support to meet the increasing needs related to raids on the city of Hodeidah, which exceeded 20 raids since Monday.
He also expressed the deep concern of the United Nations about the continuation of missile attacks and aircraft drove by the Houthis against Israel and in the Red Sea, and called on the group to stop these attacks immediately.
Mr. Dujarric added that the United Nations is still receiving updates on the devastating effects of air strikes on the Houthi -controlled areas in recent days, and it has been fulfilled by the killing of five children in Sanaa on Sunday.
He also pointed out that the air strikes last week caused damage to a hospital in Al -Bayda Governorate, where the human partners were running a program to take care of obstetrics and newborns in emergency situations. He added: “The damage to the solar panels in the hospital means that they can no longer work around the clock.”
Mr. Dujarik stressed that the United Nations and its partners continue to be present and provide services wherever they can, according to the available financing. He said that the financing of the response plan and humanitarian needs of Yemen for this year has so far reached only 8%, as less than 205 million US dollars have been received out of nearly $ 2.5 billion required.
He said: “We cannot do more with less money. The Yemeni people are stuck in a horrific vortex and a humanitarian crisis. Although funding is not a substitute for the political solution that the Yemeni people deserve severe, it will help at least help societies to stay and stability.”
