The death toll from the Tibet earthquake has risen to 95 dead and 130 injured, as a result of the severe earthquake that struck on Tuesday in the Tibet region in the Himalayas, southwest of China, near the border with Nepal, according to local authorities.

Hours ago, China’s Xinhua News Agency reported that 53 people were killed and 62 injured as a result of the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that shook Dingri Canton at 9:05, after a previous toll reported 23 dead.
She explained, according to a report issued by the Chinese Center for Earthquake Networks, that the epicenter of the earthquake was monitored at the intersection of latitude 28.5 degrees north and longitude 87.45 degrees east, where the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The Chinese National Seismological Agency reported that a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri Canton near the Chinese-Nepalese border at 9:05 (1:05 ​​GMT), while the American Institute of Geological Studies reported that the earthquake’s intensity reached 7.1 degrees.

She added that residents of “Dingri Canton and its vicinity felt the tremors strongly, and several buildings collapsed near the epicenter” of the earthquake.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 370 km southwest of Lhasa, the largest city in Tibet, according to data from the National Seismic Center.
