Berkin’s original bag destroyed records: What did you achieve in the auction?

At a historic auction held in Paris via the “Sotheby’s” house, Hermès’s “Permès” bag broke the record for the most expensive bag sold ever, with a price of 8.6 million euros (about 10 million dollars), including fees. The bag, which was the property of the British icon, Jane Birkin, was specially designed in 1984, and used it daily for a decade before donating it to a charity in 1994.

This bag is not only the first model for Birkin, but rather differs from the subsequent models with seven unique features, including a permanent shoulder belt, smaller lower nails, and closed metal rings, along with a nail poem hung by Perkin inside the bag, as an expression of its simple and spontaneous style.

The piece was sold to a Japanese antiques mosque after a ten -minute competition between nine bidders, much exceeding the previous standard price. “Sotheby’s” commented on the event by saying that the bag represents the “birth of a legend” in the fashion world, and an exceptional, inexhaustible piece.
