He was born in Sohag on November 9, 1933. He graduated from the Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1961, and was also studying at the Faculty of Commerce, but he left it and continued at the Institute of Dramatic Arts.

 

He joined the television theater group in 1961, and the first show he participated in was “Something in “Sadry”.

 

He won the Best New Face Award in 1966. He took over the position of director of the Comedy Theater in 1985. He starred in more than 35 plays, 25 cinematic films, and 30 television films. And 89 television series and more than 3,000 radio hours.

 

Among his most famous plays are: " The Land, Sheikh Rajab, Back Streets, Empty Hearts, The Harvest, Adham Al-Sharqawi, The Man Who Lost His Shadow, Four in a Cell. Hamdi Ahmed presented the play “Is Health”, which his daughter, Merit, says, because of which a decision was issued by the Minister of Health, and another Republican, obligating private hospitals to accept emergency cases immediately, even if the patient’s financial circumstances do not allow it, and for the patient to be treated and treated first.

 

Among his most famous television series are: “Al-Zahir Baybars,” “After the Storm,” “Kalam Rijalah,” “Al-Wasiya,” “Mamlouk in the Neighborhood,” Al Mawardi Street, and Metwally Gate. He is best known for his character Mahjoub Abdel Dayem, through the movie “Cairo 30”, and his films also include “Sons of Silence”, “The Beginning”, and “The Sixth Day”.

 

 

He was elected as a member of the People’s Assembly in 1979, after he felt his responsibility towards his society and his country, so he headed to Parliament, and was He was elected from the Bulaq constituency, and founded the Popular Committee for the Defense of Peasants, and was a member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Cultural Club.

 

He was also a political writer for Al-Shaab, Al-Ahaly, Al-Ahrar, Al-Midan, and Al-Khamis newspapers, and he wrote a vision for Al-Shaab, Al-Ahaly, Al-Ahrar, Al-Midan, and Al-Khamis newspapers. week from 1998 until his death on January 8, 2016.

 

 

He obtained Several awards, including: the first prize in 1967 from the League of Arab States for his role in Cairo 30. He also received an award for the film Sons of Silence. He was imprisoned by the British occupation forces in 1949 when he was 16 years old, for his participation in the protest demonstrations against the British occupation of Egypt and he was named the youngest political prisoner. And he was happy with this title.
