The Kingdom hosts the fourth international ministerial meeting of ministers concerned with mining affairs

On the fourteenth of January, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the activities of the fourth international ministerial meeting of ministers concerned with mining affairs, as part of the events of the International Mining Conference.

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources confirmed that the meeting will witness unprecedented historical representation. Globally in terms of the number of governments, the number of mining ministers, and the topics it discusses, as representatives of more than 85 countries attend, including 16 G20 countries, and 50 ministers and 13 deputies will participate in its work. More than 50 official and non-governmental international organizations are participating in the meeting, along with commodity trade associations and senior global mining industry leaders, which reflects the importance of this event; As it is the most prominent and largest in the world to discuss the affairs of the mining and metals industry, discuss ways to meet the growing demand for strategic and critical minerals, and open new horizons for development opportunities in metal-producing and manufacturing countries.

Among the issues that the next meeting will discuss is the progress achieved. During the past year regarding the three ministerial meeting initiatives, which include developing a strategic framework for critical minerals in the mining region – to add more foundations for cooperation on this subject and increase added value in countries producing metal ores, and producing green minerals using… Modern technologies and renewable energy, within a framework that ensures sustainability and transparency of supply chains, and the establishment of centers of excellence in the major mining region to enable investment, capacity building and human resources development.

 The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Professor Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, in his capacity as Chairman of the meeting, delivered the opening speech at the ministerial meeting, in which he highlights the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable mineral development, affirms its pioneering role in enhancing the future of the sector and discusses opportunities for global cooperation to confront the challenges and invest in the enormous potential provided by the mineral sector. He will join His Excellency, in the discussions of the meeting, included a group of prominent leaders, including many ministers of the participating governments.

 Among the ministers participating in the meeting are the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in Egypt, Eng.
