Umm al-Fahm: Israeli police storm a protest demanding an end to the war on Gaza

 

 

Israeli police officers stormed a protest on Saturday evening demanding an end to the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, and confiscated banners raised by the demonstrators. Dozens of residents of Umm al-Fahm and the Wadi Ara area participated in a protest at the first roundabout at the entrance to the city, in order to commemorate the Palestinian martyr who was killed on the 7th of   January, and denouncing the ongoing devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

 

 

The participants in the protest raised banners demanding that the war on Gaza be completely stopped. Fury, in addition to banners bearing Palestinian flags and the names of martyrs, some of which read: “Stop the genocidal war in Gaza,” “Stop the Israeli crime against “Civilians.” The head of the Popular Committee in Umm al-Fahm, Mourid Farid, told “Arabs 48”: “This protest came in commemoration of the International Palestinian Martyr’s Day, and in protest against the war of genocide in Gaza, in addition to demanding our natural right to demonstrate at a time when the police are limiting our rights to demonstrate and express opinions.” He added, “Yesterday the police refused to allow us to demonstrate in Sakhnin, and we stand by the truth and reject all these practices. Therefore, we stood today to also protest against being prevented from demonstrating.” Farid touched on the harassment of the Israeli police by saying, “The police commander in the region warned us against raising banners demanding an end to the war and massacres, as from our point of view what is happening in Gaza are war crimes and this is in accordance with international law. Following that, police officers stormed the protest and confiscated “Signs.”
