A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hits Japan and tsunami warnings are issued

An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale struck southwest Japan on Monday.
The Japanese Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warnings in Miyazaki Prefecture, where the epicenter of the earthquake was on the island of Kyushu in the southwest of the country, in addition to neighboring Kochi Prefecture, and the extent of the damage resulting from the earthquake was not immediately reported.
