Mayor General Santos: UAE aid gave affected families hope to overcome the effects of the Philippine earthquake
GENERAL SANTOS, June 19, 2018 (WAM) – Her Excellency Lorelei Pacquiao, Mayor of General Santos City, praised the urgent humanitarian aid provided by the UAE to those affected by the earthquake in the southern Philippines, stressing that this support reflects the UAE’s established humanitarian values, and contributes to alleviating the suffering of families and children and providing the basic needs of those affected.
This came during her reception of the Emirati response team, which is in the Philippines to follow up and support those affected by the earthquake that occurred in the south of the country.
Pacquiao said, “The UAE has always proven that it extends a helping hand to those near and far, and stands by people in times of adversity and disasters.”
She added: “We appreciate the UAE’s support for the people of the Philippines in these difficult circumstances. UAE humanitarian aid does not only mean providing food, medicine, and basic needs, but also gives affected families a sense of security and hope, and alleviates the suffering of children who lived through harsh moments due to the earthquake and the fear, loss, and damage to homes and facilities it caused.”
