Russia launches new strikes on Ukraine and takes control of a small village
The governor of the region, Sergei Lysak, announced that the attack hit an “educational institution” and residential buildings, and confirmed that according to the latest toll issued at noon, “four people were killed,” including three women and a man.

Five other people were also injured, three of them in serious condition, according to the same source, while a video clip published by the governor showed damaged buildings and debris scattered on a street.
He stated that the strike led to damage to two buildings and a fire broke out in one of them, and shortly before the strike was carried out, the Ukrainian Air Force warned that several ballistic missiles had been launched in the direction of the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was born in Kryvyi Ryg, said, “Russia will not stop on its own.” He added, appealing to his Western allies, that “it can only be stopped by exerting joint pressure.”
The city of Kryvyi Ryg, which had more than 600,000 residents before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, became the target of Russian air strikes repeatedly during the war.
Russia controls a village
The city is located about 80 kilometers from the front line. At the end of December, one person was killed and 14 others were injured in a strike that targeted it.
In addition, the Russian army announced on Friday that it had taken control of the small village of Slovenka in the Ukrainian Donetsk region, on the eastern front where Moscow’s forces are advancing.
While the Ukrainian army said that it hit an air defense radar system in the Russian Belgorod region with missiles, Ukrainian forces also carried out “precision strikes” on Thursday against a Russian division responsible for missile defense.
