9 are in critical condition… 30 people were injured in a ski lift accident in Spain

The regional government announced today, Saturday, that more than 30 people were injured in a ski lift accident in the resort of Aston, northeastern Spain.
Authorities in Aragon reported that nine people were in critical condition, while eight were seriously injured.

She added that an investigation is underway to find out the exact cause of the accident, which occurred in the Pyrenees.

Preliminary results indicate that a problem with the support cable may have caused the chairlift to separate.

The ski resort was closed immediately and many rescue operations are currently underway. The city of Aston is located in the Pyrenees mountain range on the border with France.
Media reports said that several ambulances and four helicopters were sent to rescue people and transport them to nearby hospitals.
