المملكة: “Food and Medicine”: a temporary ban on the import of poultry and eggs from France

The Food and Drug Authority announced the imposition of a temporary ban on the import of poultry meat, table eggs, and their products from France, after a report issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) indicating an outbreak of highly virulent bird flu in the French province of Calvados.
The authority explained that the decision came out of concern for food safety in the Kingdom, and after following up on international reports related to food safety in countries around the world.

Blocking conditions

She confirmed that the ban includes all poultry products that have undergone heat treatment, unless they comply with health requirements and approved standard specifications, and are accompanied by a health certificate issued by the official authorities approved in France, proving that the product is free of the bird influenza virus.
Noting that this decision is part of the precautionary measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect consumers from the dangers of food-borne diseases.
The Authority called on citizens and residents to verify the source of poultry before purchasing, and to inform the competent authorities if there are any doubts about the safety of the products.
