Sister Angelica and Janie Schicki, a new production by the Grand Theater Opera House

The Ministry of Culture continues its steps to enrich the Egyptian creative scene, as the Opera House, headed by Dr. Lamia Zayed, presents for the first time its new production of two operas from the Al Tritico trilogy by the international composer Giacomo Puccini, Sister Angelica and Janie Seckky, for the Cairo Opera Orchestra, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra, led by Maestro Ahmed Farag. It is directed by Mahdi Al-Sayed, fashion design by Hala Mahmoud, lighting by Ahmed Al-Masry, and decoration and graphic design by Abdel Moneim Al-Masry. This is at eight in the evening on Thursday and Friday, January 23, 24, and Sunday and Monday, January 26, 27, 2025 at the Grand Theater.

 

The story of the opera Sister Angelica revolves in the form of a one-act tragedy about A young nun named Angelica has her peaceful life at the convent shattered by a painful revelation about her past, leading her on a journey of love, loss, and redemption. The spiritual. 

 

 The characters are played by Rasha Talaat, alternately with Mona Rafla in the role of Soor Angelica, Jihan Fayed, alternately with Laila Ibrahim, in the role of Aunt Principessa, Salma Al-Jabali, alternately with Jacqueline. Rafik in the role of Sour Genoviève, Susanna Osama in the role of La Badesa, Dalia Samir alternately with Reham Mostafa in the role of La Badisa. Zellatrici, Salma Fayed as Maestra della Novizzia, Rasha Samir as Sour Ozmina, Iman Ezzedine as Sour Dolcena, Noresta Al-Marghani alternately with Dalia Samir as Sour Enfermeira, Noura Al-Alfy as Novezia, Azza Al-Dawy and Noura Al-Alfy as La Conversa, Amira Sameh and Mayada El-Khouly as Soor Cherkatriche with the participation of the Opera Choir Cairo.

  

Gianni Seckiki’s opera takes place in a comedic form and includes one chapter about Gianni Seckiki’s cunning and funny plans, in which he deceives a greedy family fighting over the inheritance, presenting a mixture of laughter and criticism. The characters in Jani Sakiki’s opera are played by Khaled Samir. Alternately with Mostafa Mohamed in the role of Jani Sakiki, Salma El-Gebali, alternately with Engy Mohsen, in the role of Lauretta, Mina Rafael, alternately with Mostafa Medhat, in the role of Rinocho, Norsta Al-Marghani, alternately with Laila Ibrahim, in the role of Zita, Marwan Diab, in the role of Simone, Ibrahim Naji, in the role of Gerardo, Veronia Philip, in the role of Nella. Raymond Malak plays the role of Marco, Reham Mostafa alternates with Noura Al-Alfy in the role of La Chesca, and Ezzat Ghanem Alternately with Elhamy Amin as Beto, Ahmed El-Shimy as Maestro Spinellocio, Ramez Labad as Amantio Di Nicolau, Osama Gamal as Pinellino, Burhan El-Din Farouk as Guccio, Adam Gladdon as Gerardino.".

    

It is worth noting that the Opera House’s activities in 2025 will witness new performances and various concert series aimed at developing artistic work and shedding light on various serious creative forms.
