China maintains its lead as the world’s largest industrial power for the 15th year

BEIJING, 22nd JANUARY / WAM / Zhang Yunming, Chinese Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, confirmed that the industrial sector in his country recorded a growth of 5.8% during the year 2024, compared to the previous year, achieving an added value amounting to 40.5 trillion yuan, so that China maintains its position as the largest An industrial power in the world for the fifteenth year in a row.

The People’s Daily newspaper quoted Zhang, during a press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council of China on “high-quality economic development results,” as saying that his country had completed the installation of 4.25 million new stations for fifth generation networks, which promoted digital transformation in industrial and rural areas.

In the electric car sector, he explained that production reached 12.88 million cars last year, and sales reached 12.86 million units, constituting 40.9% of total new car sales globally, supported by an advanced infrastructure that includes more than 12.8 million charging stations and 4,443 battery swapping stations.

Industrial achievements during the past year included the delivery of 16 C919 aircraft, the operation of the first heavy gas turbine with a capacity of 300 megawatts, in addition to the launch of the second large Chinese-made cruise ship.

Zhang stressed his country’s commitment to implementing ambitious strategies to promote economic development and support small and medium enterprises, with a focus on sustainability and achieving comprehensive industrial development.
