Ending a girl’s suffering from a mitral valve mass

The Prince Sultan Center for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery in Qassim – one of the components of the Qassim Health Cluster – succeeded in ending the suffering of a five-year-old girl, after performing a high-risk open-heart surgery, in cooperation with the Seha Virtual Hospital. The Qassim Health Cluster explained that the child came suffering from a mass on her back. mitral valve; Which caused a stroke that greatly affected her health condition. After undergoing the necessary medical examinations, it was found that there was part of the mass still attached to the mitral valve, which increased the complexity of her condition. The treating medical team decided to discuss the case via the “Seha Virtual Hospital” platform to benefit from joint medical expertise. Where specialists reviewed the examinations performed on the child, which showed the presence of a mass on the mitral valve that caused a stroke that affected her health condition.

He pointed out that, based on medical recommendations, it was decided to perform open-heart surgery to remove the mass. The surgery lasted about three hours, during which the mass was completely removed while preserving the function of the heart and the integrity of the mitral valve. It was crowned with success, thanks to God, without any complications.
